Prequisite:
You must have either passed the Math Placement exam or MATH 0200
Prior computer experience is not required but would be useful.
Typing skills would also be of use.
Course Description :
Computers, particularly microcomputers, have become a vital component of every day life. The purpose of this course is to provide you with a basic understanding of just what a computer is, how it operates, and to introduce you to the most common computer applications which are available to aid you both in your college work and in your professional career. Specifically, this course will cover the Windows XP Professional operating system and the Microsoft Office 2007 applications suite, which includes:

Full attendance is expected at all classes and you are responsible for all material presented in class and assigned outside of class.
Homework:
Assignments will be given periodically along with their due dates. Late submissions will not be accepted .
Quizzes:
At least five 10-15 minute quizzes will be given in class ( some will be unannounced ). There will be no makeups on missed quizzes for any reason. Missed quizzes will be assigned a grade of zero. The sum of the quiz grades will be counted as equivalent to one exam.
Exams:
Three exams will be administered which will cover all material presented in class, lab, and homework assignments. Also, there will be a comprehensive final exam at the end of the course. Makeup exams will be permitted at the discretion of the instructor and only in special, documented instances. It is the responsibility of the student to schedule any such makeup to be taken within 1 week after the original exam time..
